Motorcycle parking in Southwark
Southwark is the borough where our on street coverage is thinnest, and it is better to say so than to pretend otherwise. We hold only 12 motorcycle bays mapped across the borough, against 35 car parks that take bikes, of which 10 are recorded as free. For Southwark the car parks are currently the more useful half of our data.
What we have mapped
| On our map | Count |
|---|---|
| Motorcycle bays | 12 |
| Marked spaces in those bays | 89 |
| Car parks that also take bikes | 35 |
| Of those car parks, free | 10 |
Not every bay has a published capacity, so the number of marked spaces is lower than the number of bays rather than higher. It counts only the bays where a capacity is recorded.
Why the bay count is low
It is a mapping gap, not an absence of parking. Southwark does operate motorcycle bays around London Bridge, Borough, Bermondsey, Peckham and Camberwell. What we do not yet have is a published dataset from the council or enough volunteer mapping in OpenStreetMap to list them reliably, so rather than invent a number we show what we can stand behind. We have asked several London councils for their motorcycle parking data directly under the Freedom of Information Act, and Southwark is on that list.
In the meantime the 35 car parks are the dependable option, and the neighbouring borough pages below are worth a look if you are near a boundary.
How do you pay?
Through the provider named on the plate beside the bay, which across most of London means RingGo. Nothing goes on the bike, because wardens check by number plate. SoloBay shows the location number for each bay and opens the payment app with it already filled in.
When do you have to pay?
During the controlled hours printed on the plate. They change from street to street, so read the plate rather than assuming the borough is the same throughout. Do not stay longer than the maximum stay on the sign.

Bay locations for Southwark come from OpenStreetMap, which is mapped by volunteers rather than published by the council, so treat counts as a guide and the sign at the bay as the authority. Where we hold council data, as in Westminster and Camden, we say so. Checked October 2026.
